Vastu Shastra — Direction Guide
A 5,000-year-old Vedic architectural science that maps each of the 8 directions to a ruling deity, an element, and a set of activities that thrive there. Align your home with cosmic energy flow.
What is Vastu Shastra?
Vastu Shastra (literally 'science of dwelling') is one of the oldest Vedic sciences, with detailed instructions in texts like the Manasara, Mayamatam, and Vishwakarma Vastushastra (3000-1000 BCE). It treats every plot of land, every building, every room as having an energetic geometry — and prescribes how to align your built environment with the natural flow of cosmic energy (prana) through space.
The principle is straightforward: each of the 8 directions is governed by a different deity and elemental quality. Align activities with their natural directional 'home' and they thrive. Misalign them and you encounter friction — sometimes subtle, sometimes severe. Vastu doesn't bypass effort, but it removes structural friction so effort produces proportional results.
Modern building science has begun to validate aspects of Vastu — solar orientation, sleep direction's effect on geomagnetic alignment, daylight quality's impact on mood, the ergonomics of cardinal flow patterns. The Vedic system codified what builders empirically learned over centuries; modern science is now catching up.

Top 5 modern Vastu mistakes
- 1
**Toilet in North-East** — the single worst defect. Drains family wealth, health, and peace simultaneously.
- 2
**Kitchen in North-East or North** — fire-water clash. Causes recurring health issues and cash flow problems.
- 3
**Sleeping with head pointing North** — opposes Earth's geomagnetic field. Disrupts sleep, raises BP, blocks deeper rest.
- 4
**Master bedroom in North-East** — head of household feels unstable, transient. Family loses anchor.
- 5
**Heavy elements / staircase / load-bearing wall through Brahmasthan** — disrupts the home's central nervous system. Family decisions become chaotic.
