This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website. Please read this policy carefully. By using VedHoroscope, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us when you use our astrology services. This may include:

• Birth Details: Date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth when you generate a Kundli (birth chart), check Mangal Dosha, Sade Sati, Kaal Sarp Dosha, or use Kundli Milan (compatibility matching).
• Location Data: Your city or geographic location when you access Panchang, Rahu Kaal, Shubh Muhurat, or other location-dependent features.
• Name Information: Your full name when you use our Numerology calculator to determine your Mulank, Bhagyank, or Namank.
• Account Information: Email address, name, and password if you choose to create a user account on our platform.
• Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, browser type, device information, IP address, referring URLs, and timestamps collected automatically when you browse our website.
• Payment metadata: When you make a purchase, our payment processor (Cashfree) handles card / UPI / netbanking details directly — we never see or store your card number, CVV, or banking credentials. We only receive an order ID, payment status, last 4 digits of the card (for receipts), and the amount.
• Wallet balance: If you recharge your VedHoroscope wallet, we maintain a server-side ledger of your balance and a record of each top-up and spend. We comply with the RBI Master Direction on Prepaid Payment Instruments (2021); your unspent balance is always refundable.
• Consultation content: Chat transcripts from astrologer conversations are retained on your account so you can reference past advice. Audio / video sessions are NOT recorded by default — only if you explicitly enable recording before the session starts.

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• To provide and deliver our Vedic astrology services, including generating horoscopes, Kundli charts, Panchang data, and numerology readings.
• To personalize your experience and display content relevant to your location and preferences.
• To maintain and improve the functionality, performance, and security of our website.
• To analyze usage patterns and trends so we can enhance our services.
• To communicate with you regarding updates, new features, or respond to your inquiries.
• To display relevant advertisements through third-party advertising partners.

Transactional emails (order receipts, password resets, session reminders, refund confirmations) are sent because you used the service — these are not marketing. You receive these by default; we cannot deliver the service without them.

Marketing emails (festival promos, new-feature announcements, horoscope newsletters) are sent only if you opted in — either by checking a newsletter box at signup or by subscribing on the homepage. You can unsubscribe with one click from any marketing email, or from Account → Notifications.

Unsubscribing from marketing does not affect your account or your access to the service. Push notifications, SMS, and WhatsApp messages are off by default and only enabled when you explicitly opt in.

VedHoroscope uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your browsing experience. Cookies are small data files stored on your device that help us remember your preferences and understand how you interact with our website.

• Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to analyze website traffic and usage patterns. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit our site, which pages they visit, and what other sites they used prior to coming to our site. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this data. The information generated is transmitted to and stored by Google. For more details, please review Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google AdSense: We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on our website. Google AdSense may use cookies and web beacons to collect data about your visits to our site and other websites in order to provide targeted advertisements. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.

All card, UPI, and netbanking payments on VedHoroscope are processed by Cashfree Payments India Pvt. Ltd., an RBI-licensed payment aggregator. Cashfree is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified — the highest standard for handling card data. You enter your card details on Cashfree's servers, not ours. We never see, log, or store your card number, CVV, expiry, UPI PIN, or bank password.

Cashfree shares with us only what we need to complete the order — payment status, transaction reference, last 4 digits of the card (for receipts), and the amount paid. These details flow into our order ledger so we can issue invoices, process refunds, and meet GST and accounting obligations.

Cashfree acts as a data processor on our behalf for payment instructions. Their privacy practices are at cashfree.com/privacy-policy.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:

• TLS 1.2+ encryption (HTTPS) for all data in transit
• Hashed passwords (bcrypt with per-user salt) — we cannot recover your password, only let you reset it
• Encrypted database storage with restricted access (role-based, audited)
• Short-lived JWT access tokens (15 min) with revokable refresh tokens
• Application-layer rate limiting to deter brute-force and scraping
• Content Security Policy + secure HTTP headers

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we use commercially reasonable safeguards, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, plus any legally required holding period. Specific schedules:

• Anonymous tool inputs: Birth details entered without signing in are processed in memory and not written to our database. They live only as long as the page does.
• Saved charts: If you save a chart to your account, it stays until you delete it or close your account.
• Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of you closing the account, except as noted below.
• Order + invoice records: Retained for 8 years after the financial year of the transaction, as required by Indian tax law (Income-tax Act + CGST Act). Even if you close your account, anonymised invoice records remain for this period.
• Chat transcripts: Retained on your account while you have access. Deleted with the account.
• Puja recordings: Retained for 30 days after the puja date, then deleted.
• Server logs: Operational logs (request method, path, status, latency, hashed IP) retained for 90 days for security and performance investigation, then purged.
• Email logs: Delivery / bounce metadata retained by our email provider for 30 days. Email contents are not stored after dispatch.

VedHoroscope is operated from India. Our primary application, database, and storage servers are hosted in India and the European Union. Some data may be processed in the United States by our infrastructure and email providers (e.g., Vercel for the website, Resend for transactional email). Cashfree processes payments within India.

For users in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, any transfer of personal data outside the EEA/UK is governed by appropriate safeguards — primarily the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and our processors' supplementary measures. We do not sell personal data and we do not transfer it to jurisdictions for which we have not put a lawful transfer mechanism in place.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to Access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Right to Rectification: You may request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Right to Deletion: You may request that we delete your personal data, subject to certain legal obligations.
• Right to Restrict Processing: You may request that we limit how we use your data.
• Right to Data Portability: You may request your data in a structured, commonly used format.
• Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

VedHoroscope is not directed at children under the age of 13 globally, and not at children under 16 in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions that set a higher digital-consent age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable age.

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India), processing of personal data of children (under 18) and persons with disabilities is subject to verifiable parental or lawful-guardian consent. If you are below the applicable age in your region, please do not create an account or submit personal data. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided us with personal data, please email us at privacy@vedhoroscope.com and we will delete the data promptly.

You can delete your VedHoroscope account at any time from Account → Profile → Delete account, or by emailing privacy@vedhoroscope.com from the email on your account.

Within 30 days of your request:

• Your profile, saved charts, chat transcripts, notifications, and wallet balance refund are processed.
• Order and invoice records are anonymised (your name and email are removed; the financial transaction record is retained for the legally required 8 years).
• Backups are overwritten on our normal 35-day backup-rotation cycle. Until rotation completes, your data may persist in encrypted backups that no employee can browse.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Your continued use of VedHoroscope after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

In accordance with the Information Technology Rules, 2021 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India), we publish the following grievance contact. You may raise data-protection complaints, exercise the rights listed above, or escalate unresolved support tickets here.

We acknowledge grievances within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days, in line with the IT Rules timeline. For unresolved issues, EU/UK users may also lodge complaints with their local supervisory authority, and Indian users may approach the Data Protection Board of India once it is constituted.
