Shubh Muhurat for
Auspicious time for a child's first hair-cutting ceremony (chudakarana).
Mundan (Chudakarana) is typically done in the 1st, 3rd, or 5th year of a child's life — even years are traditionally avoided. The most auspicious times fall on the child's Janma Nakshatra anniversary or on Pushya / Rohini nakshatras during Shukla Paksha. The ceremony at temples (Tirupati, Vaishno Devi, Salasar) follows the temple's own muhurat calendar.
Best in the 1st, 3rd, or 5th year of life. Avoid the 2nd and 4th year.
Best nakshatras: Pushya, Rohini, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Anuradha, Shravana, Revati.
Best weekdays: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Avoid Saturday and Tuesday.
Done in Shukla Paksha only. Krishna Paksha is traditionally avoided for first-time samskaras.
