Cookies are tiny text files that websites place on your device to remember things — like whether you're logged in, which language you prefer, or what city you set for Panchang.

A cookie is a small text file (usually a few hundred bytes) that a website asks your browser to store. The next time you visit, the browser sends that cookie back, and the website can recognise you, remember your settings, or measure usage. Cookies cannot run programs or access files on your device.
We also use related technologies like local storage and session storage. For simplicity, we refer to all of these as 'cookies' below.

Essential — always on
Without these, the site cannot function — sign-in, security, language choice, and location-aware calculators all depend on them. These are exempt from consent under GDPR Article 6(1)(f) (legitimate interest) and the ePrivacy 'strictly necessary' carve-out.
Analytics — opt-out available
We use Google Analytics to understand which features people use, where the site is slow, and which content actually helps users. We do not sell this data and we have IP-anonymisation enabled at Google. You can opt out via the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on linked below.
Advertising — opt-out available
Free pages may show Google AdSense ads. AdSense uses cookies to avoid showing the same ad repeatedly and to measure performance. You can disable personalised ads at Google's Ads Settings without losing access to any part of VedHoroscope.
Preference — opt-out available
Small quality-of-life cookies — your selected theme, last-viewed sign, dark mode if we add it. None of these track you across other sites.

Cookie names ending with a placeholder like '<container-id>' are dynamic — the placeholder is replaced with a unique ID per Google Analytics property.

You can block, delete, or restrict cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling essential cookies will sign you out and break features like the city picker and Panchang.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track (DNT) signal or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as an opt-out request for analytics and advertising cookies. Essential cookies remain because the site requires them to work.

VedHoroscope is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly use cookies to profile or target minors. If you believe we have set such cookies for a child, contact us and we will purge the relevant identifiers.

When we add or remove a cookie, we update the itemised list above. We may not send a notification each time, so the 'Last updated' date at the top of this page is the single source of truth.
