About this puja

Mundan is the sacred first-haircut ceremony performed for a child between 11 months and 7 years. The hair from birth — believed to carry impressions from past lives — is offered, and new hair grows freshly aligned with this lifetime. Performed at a temple or at home, with prayers for the child's health, intelligence, and protection.

Preparation Guide

1Schedule on an auspicious nakshatra (Pushya, Hasta, Ashwini commonly recommended).
2Child should be calm — feed them well and let them rest before the ceremony.
3Have a barber present (parents arrange, not pandit) for the actual haircut.
4Sweets (jaggery / laddoo) ready for the child immediately after.
