South

It's a popular misconception. South-facing houses are not 'bad' — they have specific Vastu requirements. They suit certain personalities (those with strong Mars or Saturn in their birth chart) extremely well. They're particularly suited for warriors, athletes, surgeons, judges, and people whose work demands authority. The 'bad' versions are South-facing houses where the Vastu requirements weren't met — but with proper planning, a South-facing house can be among the most prosperity-anchored.

The human body has subtle North-South polarity, with North polarity at the head. Earth's geomagnetic field has its magnetic North in the North. Sleeping with head-South means your head's North polarity aligns with Earth's South — opposite poles attract, producing deeply harmonious magnetic alignment. The result is deeper, more restorative sleep with fewer disturbances. Modern sleep researchers have begun studying this geomagnetic effect, finding measurable differences in REM cycles based on head direction.

Both are excellent, but South-West is generally considered SLIGHTLY superior for the master bedroom. The South-West (Nairutya) governs durability, foundation, and patriarchal stability — exactly what the head-of-household's bedroom should anchor. The South works well as a backup. Either way, the bed should be placed against the South or West wall, with the bed-head pointing South.
